Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information JudgmentDesk collects, how we use it and the choices you have. It covers the website at judgmentdesk.com, the Landmark Judgments, and the Counsel Section at tracker.judgmentdesk.com.

Last updated: 2 October 2026

Who we are

JudgmentDesk offers two things: commentary on landmark judgments (the Landmark Judgments), and a private workspace that helps advocates keep track of their matters (the Counsel Section). In this policy, “JudgmentDesk”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of both.

Information we collect

When you read the website

You do not need to give us any information to read the Landmark Judgments. There is no sign-up, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies and does not identify you.

When you sign in to the Counsel Section

You sign in with your Google account. Google shares your name and email address with us and confirms that the email address is verified. We never receive your Google password.

The matters you track

We keep the case details you enter (the court or tribunal, bench, case type, number and year), and the information we collect for you from the court’s public website: the parties and their counsel, hearing dates, orders and status. We also keep the directions and summaries read from those orders, and the items you tick off as complied with.

Technical information

We keep a sign-in record for your session, the time you last signed in, and a count of how many lookups your account makes each day, which we use to apply fair-use limits. When you visit, your IP address and basic browser information are processed by our hosting provider, including for the human check that keeps out bots.

How we use it

We use your information only to:

  • sign you in and keep your account secure;
  • collect and show updates for your matters, and read orders for directions and dates;
  • apply fair-use limits and protect the service from bots and abuse;
  • reply when you write to us; and
  • meet our obligations under the law.

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models.

Google sign-in

We ask Google only for your basic profile: your name and email address. We use them only to create your account, recognise you when you sign in and contact you about your account. We do not get access to your Gmail, contacts, Drive or anything else in your Google account.

We do not sell, share or transfer the information we receive from Google, and we do not use it for advertising. Our use of it follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Artificial intelligence

Orders in the Counsel Section are read by an AI model that we run on our own computer, reached through an encrypted connection. The text of your orders is not sent to any outside AI service, and it is not used to train any AI model.

Who can see your data

Your matters can be seen only from your own account. We do not sell, rent or share your data with any third party for their own use.

Like any website, we rely on a small number of service providers who handle data for us, only to run JudgmentDesk:

  • Cloudflare: hosting, database and file storage, security, the human check, and cookie-free visit counts;
  • Google: sign-in, and the fonts used on some pages.

We may also disclose information if the law or a valid order of a court or authority requires it, or where it is needed to protect JudgmentDesk or its users from fraud or abuse.

Your clients’ information

Your matters may contain the names of parties and counsel, taken from public court records. We treat everything in your account as confidential and visible only to you. You remain responsible for your own professional and confidentiality obligations to your clients.

Storage and security

Your data is stored with Cloudflare, on servers that may be located outside India. Every connection to JudgmentDesk is encrypted, and each request to the Counsel Section is checked against your account before any matter is shown.

No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will inform you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Cookies

The Counsel Section uses one essential cookie to keep you signed in. It lasts up to 30 days, or until you sign out. Your browser also remembers a few display choices, such as your calendar view, on your own device.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and the website judgmentdesk.com sets no cookies of its own.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is open. When you delete a matter, it is removed from your account together with its hearings, orders and directions. Copies of public court orders may remain in our storage, because they are public records.

To close your account, write to us. We will delete your account and all your matters within 30 days, except anything the law requires us to keep.

Your rights

Under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask us:

  • for a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
  • to correct or update it;
  • to erase it, or withdraw your consent by closing your account;
  • to nominate someone to act for you in case of death or incapacity; and
  • to address a grievance about how we handle your data.

Write to the address below. We will respond as soon as we can, and within the time the law allows.

Children

The Counsel Section is meant for advocates and other legal professionals. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will show a notice on the site.

Contact and grievances

For any question, request or grievance about your personal data, write to contact@judgmentdesk.com.
